ISLAMABAD, Sept. 8 -- The Pakistani rupee gained a strong momentum towards recovery against the U.S. dollar after recently touching a record low, as the greenback was traded at 302.95 rupees in the interbank market on Friday, according to the State Bank of Pakistan. The U.S. dollar closed at 304.94 rupees on Thursday. On the last session of the week, the local currency appreciated by 1.99 rupees, or about 0.65 percent, against the U.S. dollar. The rupee touched a record low on Tuesday. From then onwards, the rupee started to appreciate, moving in an upward trajectory.
