KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): The Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) is optimistic that Thailand will join Malaysia and Indonesia on its board to further strengthen the palm oil and rubber producers' bloc in Asean. CPOPC deputy secretary general Datuk Mohamad Nageeb Ahmad Abdul Wahab said that Thailand had previously expressed its interest to join the CPOPC, which addresses discriminatory protectionist measures against palm oil and rubber producers in the region. 'They (Thailand) indicated their willingness to talk to us [on CPOPC matters] during the pre-election [period],' Mohamad Nageeb told a press conference at the International Planters Conference (IPC) 2023 here on Monday (June 12).
