Eight years in prison for attempting to burn a couple alive in Celestún
Photo by Kindel Media on Pexels.com Eduardo 'N' will spend eight years, ten months, and twenty days in prison after being sentenced for the crime of attempted murder with premeditation, as he attempted to burn a woman and her husband alive in Celestún in December of last year. The First Control Judge of the Fourth Judicial District, based in Umán, declared the suspect guilty of the double crime after a simplified trial. This was a better outcome for the defendant, as a regular trial would have resulted in a longer sentence.

Yucatan is among the 17 states that will suffer an increase in their electricity bills
In domestic customers it will reach 3.3%. Photo: (El Economista) Fall has begun, which means the summer rate provided by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) will come to an end. This subsidy will be in effect until October 31, and starting from November 1, 17 states will see an increase in their electricity rates, which will be reflected in their electricity bills. From this date, users will return to paying the normal CFE rate, which is 2.618 pesos per kilowatt-hour. The reason for the end of the summer rate is that temperatures have started to decrease in most states across the country.

His grandfather started by shining shoes on movie sets at the age of eight; however, his passion for the cinematic arts led him to specialize in the technical aspects of film production. With much luck and without any formal education in the field, Jesús Trejo achieved the unthinkable: becoming part of a film production team, and what's more, during the golden age of Mexican cinema. This background was more than enough for his grandson, Ulises Mendicutty, to honor his grandfather's legacy through a design commissioned by Google.

Solar Eclipse will draw tourists to Campeche! Hotels register a 60% occupancy so far for those dates
The hotel sector in the municipality of Campeche is registering over 60% in reservations from tourists who will visit the region for the solar eclipse on October 14, as reported by the Secretary of Tourism, Mauricio Arceo Piña. He clarified that the invitation is to enjoy the activities surrounding the eclipse, not to directly observe the astronomical phenomenon, as that action could have serious health consequences. 'We have been monitoring the situation, and last week there were over 60% reservations for that weekend, so with the time that remains, we are very pleased because we are truly taking advantage of this astronomical phenomenon to conduct a Mayan ceremony,' he stated.

Restoration of Monuments on Paseo de Montejo continues
Almost a year and six months have passed since that night of March 8, 2022, when the monuments on Paseo de Montejo to Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Justo Sierra were painted in the march for International Women's Day. Furthermore, on that occasion the Monumento a la Patria and the Montejo conquistadors, on Paseo de Montejo itself, respectively, were also painted. Although the paintings and graffiti on two monuments on Paseo de Montejo are still evident, the process to remove them is not easy and requires a series of studies and protocols that are already being carried out, explained Anna Goycoolea Artis, director of the INAH Yucatán Center.
