Police can now name the man who was found deceased after a house fire in Foxton on 27 September. He was Dean Kahukiwa, aged 32. Dean was resident in Foxton at the time of his death. A new study published today in The Lancet Planetary Health highlights the beneficial role of greenness and access to green or blue spaces in reducing socioeconomic-related inequalities in mental health. Lithgow City Council is reminding the community that Round 2 financial assistance applications close on 31 October 2023. "I know that there are many community organisations around the Lithgow LGA that are doing great work to support their communities," said the Mayor Maree Statham. Sunraysia residents are being urged to ensure their properties are prepared for the upcoming Fire Danger Period. The Country Fire Authority (CFA) declares an annual Fire Danger Period from October through to April, and it's important that everyone in our region does their part to reduce the risk of fire ahead of the declaration. Council's Local Laws Officers will soon start inspecting properties throughout the municipality to ensure they don't pose a fire-risk. Penalty notices can be issued to landowners if their land doesn't comply with Local Laws.

Works to remediate damaged stormwater piping has begun in Stuarts Point. The project will carry out remediation work to four areas of damaged stormwater pipelines under Kimpton street (West), Kimpton street, Kimpton street (Headwall) and Stuarts Point Sports Field. Commencement has begun with establishment of site facilities. The site works will include the provision of traffic management, earthworks, stormwater pipework and pipe relining work, as well as pavement reconstruction at parts of Kimpton Street.

One in two Australian workers have experienced being bullied, harassed or exposed to conflict or inappropriate behaviour in a new exclusive work survey. The results of the disturbing survey (attached) finds just as many report unrealistic workloads, poor training and exposure to traumatic events. The survey, conducted in the lead up to today, World Mental Health Day, comes even as Australian states synchronise new laws to hold employers responsible for psychological and psychosocial hazards in the workplace.

MELBOURNE- Rio Tinto has committed an additional A$1.7 million to the Australia-Japan Innovation Fund (AJIF), to promote research and academic projects between Australia and Japan, and to further collaboration between industry, educational institutions and governments in the two nations. The commitment was signed at the 60th Australia-Japan Annual Joint Business Conference, which brings together business leaders from the two countries and is currently underway in Melbourne. AJIF was until recently the Foundation for Australia-Japan Studies (FAJS) 1 and was established in 2015 to promote industry-academia-government collaboration between Australia and Japan.

Police investigating the disappearance of Auckland man Dylan Barford want to speak to the driver and occupants of a vehicle of interest. The vehicle is a small silver hatchback (pictured), believed to be a Suzuki Swift, Nissan Tiida, or other similar car. This vehicle was captured on various CCTV cameras across Auckland on the morning Dylan went missing, Sunday 24 September: - At around 4.15am, the vehicle entered the Northwestern motorway (SH 16), probably from the St Lukes onramp, heading north.
