New restaurant player banks on revenge spending, aggressively expands food business
CEBU-BASED Dotonbori Group, managed by Yohei Maruyama and Marilyn Mar, is set to hire an additional 40 employees for its forthcoming branches of Dotonbori Ramen, soon to debut in Ayala Center Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu. This expansion reflects the owners' confidence and optimism in Cebu's burgeoning local economy, bolstered by the resurgent and revenge spending of Cebuano patrons in the food and beverage sector. Maruyama, who has called Cebu home for the past 13 years, views the city as an opportune ground for investors like him to introduce the Japanese culture to Cebuanos through food.

Limlingan: Undermining social order and rule of law
March 25, 2023 It can be observed that there is an increase in the number of killings and violence in the country recently where politicians, regardless of their positions are killed, attacked or have been made victims of other forms of violence. We may believe that these are most likely, politically motivated. Their perpetrators are either supporters of their opponents or some assassins who are paid to do the dirty and illegal job. This early, election violence seems to dominate the political scenario prelude to the upcoming October 2023.

Editorial: Kadayawan and its importance
Photo by Mark Perandos AFTER two years of being held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kadayawan Festival now returns with a face-to-face celebration. The 37th Kadayawan sa Davao will center on the theme 'Kasikas sa Kadayawan.' 'The theme of this year's Kadayawan is Kasikas sa Kadayawan, which means to make noise and to have fun. The Kadayawan festival is a means to relax, enjoy, and a way of thanksgiving for our bountiful harvest,' said Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.

In a report provided by the Panabo City Information Office, the jogger, a resident from Datu Abdul Dadia, was jogging on the coastal road (port area) in Barangay San Pedro around 5 a.m. when he was hit by the container van. According to the residents, since the road is at a downhill curve, the vehicle turned around at a fast speed because the area is not crowded by pedestrians at that time.
