Nantu secretary general Loide Shaanika said this in an interview with The Namibian this week. 'The government is supposed to empower teachers to be able to deliver as per expectations,' she said.Shaanika said N$10 million is not enough, and teachers have to use their salaries to acquire new skills. On the ground floor of the Ministry of Mines and Energy's head office in Windhoek is the National Earth Science Museum, which has displays on Namibia's fossil, mineral and mining history. With the oldest desert in the world, it's no surprise that Namibia has countless fossils hidden beneath the surface.Archaeologists have dug up fossils of animals, plant life and human ancestors to try and piece together histories of a time before time. The first exhibit displays more than 20 million years of human evolution, with the now extinct ape Otavipithecus namibiensis, which at the time of its discovery was the only non-hominin ape found in southern Africa.

My First Nonsensical Rant of 2023
Last Word | 2023-02-12 Page no: 33 This year I'm hoping to continue doing the good I've been doing for my own life and working on myself as much as possible. I don't really believe in New Year's resolutions, but I definitely love to set my intentions and then re-evaluate them every now and then to make sure I am staying on track. There are a few things I think I did right in 2022: I saved money, I worked hard, I rested a lot, I partied, I ate good food, I worked out sometimes. But of course, there are also a few things I think I need to leave behind as I enter this new season.

According to the Sacu secretariat, out of the 174 traders that have been accredited under the programme, Namibia has only managed to secure one accreditation, through Namib Mills.Thabo David Khasipe, the executive secretary of Sacu said this is a worrying trend, as the voluntary programme is designed to further improve administrative efficiencies and strengthen compliance, safety, and security within the supply chain.

The Queen passed away and as is customary any time anything major happens in the world, the internet imploded. On one hand, you have millions of supporters around the globe who loved her, grew up knowing her as an enduring figure and practically worshipped her. British people are not doing okay. In the past week I have seen so many of them posting videos of themselves sobbing, listening to sad songs and just generally falling apart at the seams. On the other hand is something that has been dubbed 'black Twitter' (I mean it has always been called that, but now I heard it being used on CNN, so I guess it's official).

Nothing winks at me from the realm of the ancestral like showing up to a Reframe photography workshop at the Namibian Arts Association and having one of the students state that they are all of 17.It's sobering. It warps the rules of time and shared space. It forces me to take a long, unflinching look at my life and recall that, on any given day of my own 17th year, chances are I was bunking law school to spend an afternoon on Camps Bay beach.Seventeen is going to be a great photographer. With the flexibility of homeschooling, a DSLR camera and a dream, they're already raking in that matric farewell cash which they plan to add to their university fund when not training for a 300-kilometre cycling event.
