News - National | 2023-04-01 . THE Namibia National Teachers Union (Nantu) has criticised the government's decision to allocate only N$10 million for the upgrading of teachers' skills this year. Nantu secretary general Loide Shaanika said this in an interview with The Namibian this week. 'The government is supposed to empower teachers to be able to deliver as per expectations,' she said.Shaanika said N$10 million is not enough, and teachers have to use their salaries to acquire new skills. 'We hope the N$10 million that is allocated equates to the result that they expect in terms of the skill development of teachers.
