Victorian taxpayers are facing a big bill over the government's decision not to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Premier Daniel Andrews has axed the event, claiming it could cost up to $7 billion which is almost triple the initial estimates. The government will still spend $2 billion on games-related projects and support for regional areas, plus compensation.
