The Netherlands return cultural objects to Sri LankaDutch State Secretary for Culture and Media Gunay Uslu arrives for the signing ceremony of a legal document transferring the ownership of cultural artifacts that will be returned by the Netherlands, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, 28 August 2023. Six cultural artifacts that belonged to the Kandy royal family and were looted by Dutch colonialists from the former Kandiyan kingdom in 1765 will be returned to Sri Lanka later this year. The objects include the Lewke's canon, two Gold kastanes (ceremonial swords), a Singalese knife, a Silver kastane, and two guns.
