A question I get asked regularly in this job is where to go for lunch in the city centre. Somewhere nice, close, quick and good value. Usually I pluck one or two tried and trusted spots out the hat — the Palmerston if you're in Edinburgh's West End or Cafe Gandolfi in Glasgow's Merchant City. Then my mind goes blank. Ultimately, my conclusion is as unchanging as the menu in your family-run neighbourhood Indian restaurant. City centre restaurants tend to be a bit disappointing. Happily, I now have an answer ready to go when it comes to Glasgow.
