Samsung SDI and Stellantis, a U.S. automaker, will build their second battery plant in the U.S.Samsung on Monday said it signed a memorandum of understanding with Stellantis for their joint venture StarPlus Energy to build the plant with a view to starting production in 2027 with an initial annual capacity of 34 GWh.The site has not been selected but will probably be in the state of Indiana, where their first battery plant with an annual production capacity of 33 GWh is already under construction.
