The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ordered security forces to immediately submit the list of potential flashpoints in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Oct. 30. Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia said the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines are taking too long in submitting the list of areas recommended to be placed under Comelec control. Suppress threats During an election period, the Comelec may place areas under its direct control and sideline the authority of local government units to suppress potential election-related violence.
