AnNIVERSARY OF THE australian army training team's entry into Vietnam Today we recognise those who served in the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV), the first Australians to respond to a request for assistance from the Republic of Vietnam. 61 years ago, 30 AATTV advisers arrived in Saigon to provide training support to the Republic of Vietnam. These advisers worked across the country, often working alone or in pairs alongside American advisory teams and Republic of Vietnam Units. Throughout the Vietnam War, the Team often found themselves engaged in fierce combat and became the most highly decorated Australian unit to serve in the war.
