In the first 14 months of this administration, law-enforcement agents seized a staggering 7.3 tons of illegal drugs (4.4 tons of shabu and 3 tons of dried marijuana leaves) valued at P30 billion.  Congressman Robert Ace Barbers made this revelation during Monday's hearing of his House Committee on Dangerous Drugs. 'This quantity alone could bankroll the political campaigns of drug lords', he said in his opening statement. This reminds us of the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago's perspective on campaign financing.
