A singing competition named in honor of star soprano Jo Su-mi will be held every July from next year at Chateau de La Ferte-Imbault, a medieval castle near Paris in France.The inaugural competition takes place on July 7-13, 2024.Jo made the announcement at a recital held at the chateau in front of around 300 guests. The chateau was built in the late 10th century and renovated in the early 17th century."I chose the chateau because I wanted to create a cultural festival that goes beyond a singing competition," Jo said, adding that France's classical music tradition also played a role in her choice.
