My family and I recently returned from a weekend getaway in Santa Barbara, which many people refer to as God's Country, as parts of the area are jaw-droppingly beautiful. Santa Barbara is an easy drive from Los Angeles. It's just 101 miles (about 1 hour and 45 minutes without traffic) from LAX. Thanks to Visit Santa Barbara, our stay included two nights at what many will argue is the best hotel in town, the El Encanto, a Belmond hotel.
