CEBU CITY, Philippines – 'It's about time.' This was Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia's comment when the World Health Organization (WHO) no longer considered COVID-19 a global health emergency. On Friday, WHO declared the end of the COVID-19 pandemic which, for three years, claimed over 3 million lives and wreaked economic havoc worldwide. 'COVID-19 is now an established and ongoing health issue which no longer constitutes a public health emergency of international concern,' the health institution said in a statement.
