Ethel Hurr Ray, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2023. Ethel was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Columbus, Texas to Johnnie Lee and Henry Hurr. After losing her father at a very young age, Ethel spent her childhood with her mother in Glidden, Texas surrounded by her beloved Aunt and Uncle, Ethel and Harvey Hope, as well as her cousin Betty Jo Hope Wittmer, who was like a sister to her. Ethel graduated from Columbus High School and afterwards attended Baylor University where she majored in Education and Spanish, graduating at the top of her class in 1949.
