If you have been feeling a little tight-headed, or been feeling joint pain, it might be to do with the high pressure readings of the past day or so. A large high has been positioned immediately to the east of New Zealand, with the centre measuring 1033 hectopascals (hpa) of barometric pressure. This is the highest pressure reading for some time, with normal summertime measurements generally around 1020 to 1025 hectopascals. Anything past 1030 is treated as being very high. Pressure variations have a major influence on the weather, on the oceans and tides, and also on how animals and people feel.
