By Adam Martin Newly reported Covid-19 cases in the U.S. were up slightly from a day earlier but maintained their downward trend, as did deaths. The U.S. reported more than 66,000 new cases for Thursday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University and published Friday morning Eastern time. That number might update later in the morning. It was higher than the 62,857 reported a day earlier but lower than the 74,289 reported a week earlier, and brought the national total to nearly 31.93 million.
