Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly is set to visit the country and meet with several local officials this week to discuss advancing the two countries' bilateral relations in trade and defense, among others. Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo will meet Joly on May 19 to sustain high-level engagements between the Philippines and Canada, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The meeting comes amid preparations for the 75th anniversary of bilateral ties between the two countries in 2024.
