To coincide with this week's unveiling of the statue of Lieutenant Colonel Vivian Bullwinkel AO MBE ARRC ED FNM FRCNA, the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is today announcing details of the ACN Bullwinkel Project Scholarships. The 22 scholarships will honour the memory and sacrifice of the 21 nurses who were massacred at Radji Beach on Bangka Island, Indonesia, in February 1942, along with the sole survivor Lt Col Vivian Bullwinkel. ACN CEO Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN said the ongoing funding of the scholarships will support ACN's commitment to establish a legacy for Lt Col Bullwinkel and her nursing colleagues who did not survive the massacre.
