CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — A 5.8-magnitude earthquake, tectonic in origin, shook Isabela province at 8:49 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. The earthquake struck 15 kilometers northeast of the coastal town of Maconacon and had a depth of 42 km. Intensities were felt in Penablanca and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan (Intensity V), Batac in Ilocos Norte (Intensity IV), and Pasuquin, Bacarra, and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte (Intensity II). Intensity IV was felt in Gonzaga in Cagayan; Intensity III in the City of Ilagan in Isabela, and Intensity II in Casiguran, Aurora; Pasuquin, Batac, and Laoag, Ilocos Norte; Vigan City in Ilocos Sur; Santiago City; Bangued, Abra; Baler, Aurora; Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, and Bayombong in Nueva Vizcaya.
