MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,419 individuals or 400 families have fled their homes and evacuated to safer grounds due to the prevailing southwest monsoon, which was enhanced by Tropical Storm 'Dodong' (international name: Talim), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday. Dodong left the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday afternoon but monsoon rains continued to affect the country, particularly over its western section. The evacuees were temporarily housed in 36 evacuation centers in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas, the NDRRMC said.
