Loved Ones Host Fundraiser To Support Family Of Sand Springs Father Killed In Crash
Tuesday, August 24th 2021, 9:19 pmThe family of a man killed last month in a motorcycle crash is holding a fundraiser this weekend to support his fiance and little girl. Allan's Simpson's fiancée said the event will also serve as a celebration of his life. Simpson lived for a few days after the wreck. His fiancé Mariah Meschkat said it's been the hardest few weeks of her life and she hopes to see a huge turnout this weekend in Sand Springs. Meschkat was riding on a motorcycle with Simpson during the Fourth of July weekend when he lost control as they were exiting Highway 412.

The superintendent says the COVID numbers at Union are higher now than they ever were last school year, and he thinks this mask mandate is the best way to keep students learning in person.The requirement said students, staff, and visitors need to wear a mask indoors on district property.

Monday, May 17th 2021, 8:18 pmThe Council of the Cherokee Nation approved a resolution that allows the tribe to donate revenue from traffic tickets back to the city municipalities. Following the recent Supreme Court ruling on tribal jurisdiction, Native Americans who were given a traffic ticket or misdemeanor would pay fines to the tribe. EMSA Getting Creative During Paramedic Shortage

EMSA officials said there's multiple reasons they're a bit shorthanded, but they have been getting creative to fill the void until more paramedics join their ranks.EMSA has been taking the shortage seriously, especially with a predicted nationwide shortage of 42,000 EMTs and paramedics by 2030.One reason they have been a little shorthanded has been that paramedics schools put things on pause during the pandemic.

Friday, June 25th 2021, 9:21 pmPeople lined the streets of Nowata Friday night, as the body of a soldier was brought home. Sergeant Joseph Braig died in an accident earlier this month while off-post. His remains were flown into Tulsa Friday, then a procession took them through his hometown of Nowata, before heading to the funeral home in Bartlesville. Crowds of people came out to pay their respects. "Somebody who lit up a room whenever you needed him to. Had a great sense of humor,' Will Maddux said.

Friday, June 25th 2021, 10:22 pmThe loss of a longtime Creek County Ambulance director has left a big hole in the hearts of the people who worked with her. Rita Diehl leaves behind a huge legacy. She served her community in Creek County for nearly 40 years and helped work to make medical services better across the state.Her legacy at the Creek County Ambulance service spans 39 years. For the last 21 years, she served as director. The people that worked with her, like Kerry Harlin and Charity Walters lost more than a mentor, they feel like they've lost family.

State Education Assessments Show Students Suffered In All Grades, Subjects
Thursday, September 30th 2021, 9:20 pmThe newly published state assessment data shows students across the board suffered during the pandemic. This is the first statewide assessment of K-12 students since the pandemic brought disruption to the school system in March of 2020. Every grade and every content level tested below where they were expected to be -- making it clear that no student got through the pandemic without harm. Results show that students scored lower overall in math, English language arts, and science.
