I decided on a bit of a whim to purchase an iPad Air for recreational use: movies, gaming (emulation), browsing, etc. 1. Any tips/tricks for someone who's relatively familiar with iOS? I've used iPads in the past, just never owned my own. I'm familiar with the basic multi-tasking features and such. 2. Thoughts on getting a screen protector? I probably won't be taking it out of the house much, if at all. 3. Thoughts on a case? Budget is ~$50. Looking forward to seeing how this thing works as my "in bed" device.

I've had a MacBook Pro Retina for a year now, and quite frankly, its simply overkill for what I used the computer for on a daily basis. I would have been fine with a MacBook Air, but elected to spend the extra cash for a nice screen. I use writing intensive programs (Final Draft, Pages, etc), but outside from that, just do regular web browsing, music, and etc. I was curious of if anyone on here had replaced their laptop with an iPad, because I am considering doing that. I'm just curious about how the keyboards work with the iPad.

will be using it to read books, scroll instagram etc., which literally anything ipad could do. but i also browse flickr and into photography, so I want a really good screen. Have a macbook pro for photo editing, so I'm not editing, just storing/browsing only. Don't care about anything else (processor speeds, cameras, etc.). Don't want mini, or 12.9'' (too big). Obviously the new 12.9'' pro has the best screen, but it'd be a waste for what I'm doing (Browsing photography). Website I found (socialcompare) says screen resolution and PPI hasn't changed in 5+ years, but I'm sure the dispays got better.

From my understand, the new case cover is quite mandatory for the new mini since you cannot put the ipad flat on desk due to the camera bump ! I assume the new cover acts as a shim to level everything flat. If you look carefully it actually has the levelers on the back of the iPad so you won't have to worry about that the ipad mini, is flat exept at camera bump, there is no levelers. Hey guys, I am a pilot and would like to upgrade my iPad soon (I have an iPad 6). the candidates are the Pro11 (first or second generation) or the new series 9 (in this case I could continue to use the pencil without change it) both cellular with a minimum of 256 gb of ran and I'd would keep it for as long as I can (At least for 2/3 years) Here is my use case: ForeFlight (Electronic Flight Bag - Moving Map, Approach Plates, Scratchpad, etc) General media usage - movies, books, etc Note Taking - writing down clearances, notes for training, etc I don't plan on doing any video/photo editing, etc.

Is there anyone here who uses two iPads? I have been torn with this generation of iPads. I recently had the 11 inch pro and I loved it for reading books and surfing the web, and just holding it in the hand was perfect. The problem I had with it was when multitasking it always felt cramped. Two apps side by side always felt small. When I took it out of the house to use in a coffee shop it always felt too small. Also when using it around the house unless I was holding it in the hand the screen was a bit small.

I do basic things like reading and notes writing on the mini. I also have the pencil. Is this a big upgrade? better resolution? noticeable screen size? what is a mini 5 256gb with apple care+ worth now? I'm in the same boat. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) with a magic keyboard as my daily driver, but recently picked up an immaculate Mini 5 for £280 to use for reading and light surfing whilst in bed etc. I love the idea of the Mini 6 and the new form factor… but struggling to justify the 100% uplift for one.

I'm one of those people that is unfortunately affected by sensitivity to screen flicker that comes from PWM controlled LED screens. This means that I'm have been stuck using the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 as I can't use the LED powered X, 11 Pro or 12 as those phones give me a terrible headache when I use them. I'm not sure how the soon to be launched mini-LED screens on the new iPads will be different from the LED screens on the new iPhones and am afraid if I'll be stuck using an older iPad model with LCD screen if it has the same screen flicker.

Yeah, so the wind has been taken out of my sails with all of this constant complaining of the blooming and shadows, so I'm wondering if I should even bother opening the 12.9' I'm getting Tuesday or if I should return it for an 11' instead? Or even try to snag a 2020 model? I was so hyped up for the iPad Pro this year and now I am just disheartened to the point where I don't know if I'll be able to look past the issues.

Let me state up front that I am platform agnostic. I use a Windows laptop (Thinkpad), an Android phone (S21 Ultra), and the IPad 11 Pro 2020. My primary operational connective software platform is Microsoft in the sense that I rely very heavily on Office 365 (including heavy use of OneNote). Second, a few words about my use of these gadgets and related software is warranted. I work in an environment which requires a lot…and I mean a lot…of reading and writing. I read (estimating conservatively) over 100 journal articles (average length 8-9k words) and around 20 scholarly monographs per year in addition to web-centric research and news articles, casual browsing (in which I include Reddit etc).

Hi Guys ! I have the 2018 iPad Pro 11' and I have aFace Id Set up for it, what I have noticed is a lot of times even despite being in adequate light conditions, and also siting and looking at the iPad Screen from a Close Distance the Face Id Fails, It does not unlock the device for me. And then I have to put the Passcode to Unlock the device. Why could this be happening ? is there a Possibility that while setting up my Face Id I did not do it properly ? Without resetting the device again which I do not want to do, is there a way to only set up the Face Id again ? Yes.

Yeah, so I have the 2021 12.9' iPad Pro preordered, but I have come to realize how much I enjoy watching content in my bed as opposed to anywhere else in my house. I've owned 12.9' iPad Pros before, but never tried using them in bed and I would assume they would be unwieldy. I REALLY wanted that XDR display, but would the 11' be my best bet if I was going to use it in bed a lot? I wouldn't mind saving some cash too, but I feel like I'd be missing out if I didn't get the 12.9'. So, I'm stumped on what to do now.
