When gay college student Matthew Shepard was found brutalized and tied to a fence outside Laramie, Wyoming in 1998, his death made people across the country take a hard look within. Twenty-three years after its World Premiere at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts,  The Laramie Project   still resonates today. As America continues to grapple with hate crimes, we dive deep into a human story of the prejudice, hatred, conflicts and contradictions revealed by Matthew's death. Patchworked together from hundreds of interviews,  The Laramie Project  explores the reactions of sixty real-life characters at the epicenter of one of the country's most heinous anti-gay crimes, examining the depth of human hatred and the heights of compassion and love.

The Newman Center proudly presents Music Creators (MC), a one-week (June 19-23) camp experience for students 12-16 years old who are serious about the art of creating original music. Get hands-on with the latest music technology and learn techniques for composition, recording and production shared by professional musicians, composers and educators from our local music community. It all takes place June 19-23 from 9 am-5 pm at North High School. Instruction comes from the staff and faculty at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music and the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.
