The Premier League is set to announce plans for this weekend's fixtures on Friday morning, following the Queen's death.Representatives from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport[DCMS] are due to speak on a call with leaders from across sport first thing on Friday and offer guidance over how to proceed while the country mourns the Queen's passing at Balmoral on Thursday afternoon.The EFL also intends to make a decision based on the meeting and said on Thursday evening that 'an appropriate announcement will be made at the earliest opportunity'.

April 19, 2021 12:04 pm(Updated 5:13 pm)The 12 founding members of the European Super League (ESL) – including the 'big six' English clubs – have resigned from the European Club Association (ECA).The ECA is the body which represents all professional clubs in Uefa, and the only one Uefa recognises.It has said it is 'strongly opposed' to the new league, and held an emergency meeting on Sunday after news of its creation broke.Representatives from the Super League clubs did not attend. This includes Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli, who was chairman of the ECA but has resigned from his position.

The second day of the third and final Test between England and South Africa at the Oval has been postponed, along with horse racing fixtures and golf following the Queen's death.The ECB is expected to announce further news regarding the status of the Test on Friday following a board meeting and discussions with other sporting bodies in the UK. With the series poised at 1-1, the opening day of the deciding Test was washed out but it is unclear whether the remainder of the match will be rescheduled or abandoned altogether.
