He was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center, they said.Barely 15 minutes and a half-mile north of that shooting, a 24-year-old Paterson man was wounded at Rosa Parks Boulevard and Putnam Street.

A man has been sentenced for stabbing his wife to death during a dispute at her Westchester home.Kirk Fisher, age 60, of the Bronx, was sentenced on Thursday, Sept. 29, to 20 years in state prison for killing his wife Kaya Green, at her Mount Vernon home, said Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah.'This is a devastating case of domestic violence and we hope the family of Kaya Green has some sense of closure,' Rocah said. On the night of Thursday, April 8, 2021, Fisher repeatedly stabbed the 47-year-old victim, who suffered numerous stab wounds to various parts of her body and blunt force trauma to her head, which caused her death, Roach said.

Hopeful Somerville Scooter Thief Caught Red-Handed, But Gets Free Ride To Jail
Police said a 38-year-old Somerville man thought he had an easy score Thursday, Aug. 16, when he saw a scooter latched to a bike rack at the MBTA Davis Square station, but his eyes were bigger than his brain on this caper. Derek Roy was caught around 4 p.m. trying to cut the cable that secured the GTX Scooter to the bike rack by an officer who happened to be nearby, Transit Police said. Roy told the officer the pricey scooter belonged to a friend.  Unfortunately for Roy, the owner of the scooter walked up at that time, and he explained he'd never met him before.

School classmates, family, friends, and the community are mourning the loss of a 16-year-old Hudson Valley boy who has died.Dutchess County resident Jack Strehl, age 16, of Arlington, died suddenly on Friday, Oct. 14. A cause of death was not provided, said a GoFundMe account.  The GoFundMe has raised more than $50,000, to help pay for the funeral and financial expenses associated with his death for the well-known family. "Sometimes, there are no words," said the GoFundMe started by friend Jennifer Sullivan.

Three men and two juveniles were arrested for allegedly having two guns after being stopped for following each other at a high rate of speed in Fairfield County.The incident took place in New Cannan around 3:10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17 northbound on New Norwalk Road. Three people were saved after their boat capsized in a Hudson Valley reservoir.On Wednesday, Nov. 2 around 12 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the Croton Falls Reservoir in Carmel in the area of Hemlock Dam Road after a boat containing three people capsized, according to Mahopac fire officials. With the help of a team of Mahopac fire officials, Carmel Police, and the Putnam County Sheriff, the three people were taken back to shore and transported to Danbury Hospital, officials said.  "Truly amazing people doing their jobs to save lives," Mahopac Fire Public Information Officer Jack Casey said.

A belligerent hospital patient was arrested after assaulting a nurse and security guard in Berks County, authorities said.Todd Bennett, 37, was being treated at the Penn State Health St. Joseph Hospital when he became hostile and bit a registered nurse on her arm and spit in a security guard's face on July 31, Bern Township police said in a Sept. 12 news release. The Reading man was eventually restrained by staff and arrested on aggravated assault charges, police said. On Sept. 6, a magisterial district judge found probable cause to forward the case to the Court of Common Pleas.

CT Filmmaker Will Fly To Space As Crew Member Of First Civilian Mission To Moon
A filmmaker from Marlborough will be part of the first-ever civilian mission to orbit the moon. Brendan Hall, a documentary filmmaker, was selected out of over one million artists and creatives to be a crew member of the "dearMoon" mission, which will make a month-long journey to the moon and back using a SpaceX rocket later in 2023.The idea for the project came from Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa, who purchased the seats aboard the rocket for eight other crew members.  Hall's films have focused on telling stories in remote parts of the world such as Siberia and the Amazon rainforest, making a trip to the moon a natural next step for him.

A man wanted in New York State was apprehended by authorities at a rest area on a Connecticut highway.Just before 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, Connecticut State Police troopers in Middlesex County responded to the I-91 northbound rest area in Middletown after receiving information that the subject of an active extraditable arrest warrant in the State of New York may be in the area, in possession of a tan Buick LeSabre displaying a New York registration.  Troopers were advised that the owner of the Buick had reported the vehicle stolen in the State of New York.

Duo Nabbed In Hudson Valley Break-Ins Part Of 'South American Theft Group,' Police Say
Two members of an organized crime ring are behind bars in connection with numerous home break-ins across the country, including in the Hudson Valley and on Long Island, authorities said.Jorge Luis Araneda Pogge, age 39, and Ingrid Johana Gomez, age 33, were both arrested in Queens Thursday, Jan. 12, following a multijurisdictional investigation that began in 2020, according to Harrison Police. The pair is accused of taking part in multiple residential burglaries and other theft-related crimes throughout the country, including the Town of Harrison and Nassau County.

The owners of Lucky Taco announced the permanent closure of their Tolland County location at 73 East St. in Vernon's Northeast Shopping Center on Tuesday night, May 9 on social media.  The closure comes after the business's original Hartford County flagship location at 829 Main St. in Manchester was shut down for good in mid-March after nine years in business as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The owners cited their decision to close the Vernon location as the result of the "last few, very difficult years.

'You Are Dead': Manchester Man Posts Threatening Message To Lamont, Murphy, Police Say
Hartford County resident Sean Richard Palla, age 36, of Manchester, was arrested on Wednesday, June 14, by Connecticut State Police for messages posted on Wednesday, May 24. According to an arrest warrant, Palla, who used the username "tOpsecretalien" posted a message that read "Hey @govnedlamont you are DEAD!" Along with @senchrismurphy. The warrant said that although the account was private, investigators were able to determine who the account belonged to and made an emergency information request to Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to gain the user's identity.

A Maryland man who was a former employee at a Washington, DC private school has admitted to accessing the dark web from home and work computers to obtain child pornography, authorities announced.Crofton resident Jay Gordon, 55, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography after being identified as a suspect in the trafficking of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) during a nationwide investigation involving the receipt and distribution of porn. Prosecutors said that Gordon's IP address was found to access dark websites.
