Christian Whistleblower Who Won $70M Was Motivated by ‘Moral Clarity'
Sarah Feinberg was a Marine Corps combat veteran, a Wharton Business School graduate, and a Christian mother of three when she left her job at one of the country's biggest defense contractors—and filed a lawsuit under a whistleblower statute. Feinberg says she was prompted by the Holy Spirit and her moral convictions. Eight years later, in September 2023, her role as a whistleblower netted a $69.8 million payout, a portion of one of the government's largest procurement settlements to date at $377.

Miracles Are Outlasting the Arguments Against Them
In the halls of the academy as well as on the street, there is no more controversial aspect of the Bible than its accounts of miracles. Skepticism about supernatural intervention in human affairs—rooted in the Enlightenment, especially the writings of philosopher David Hume—has become mainstream in the modern mind. At the same time, however, there is a growing body of documented evidence, as well as compelling stories by credible witnesses, of miracles taking place. Ten years ago, prominent New Testament scholar Craig Keener assembled a large collection of this evidence in his two-volume work Miracles: The Credibility of the New Testament Accounts, and he returns to the topic in his latest publication, Miracles Today: The Supernatural Work of God in the Modern World.

9 in 10 Evangelicals Don't Think Sermons Are Too Long
At a time when pastors feel particularly under pressure, here's some good news from the pews: Evangelical churchgoers are pretty happy with how things are going at their churches. Most don't think the sermons are too long; if anything, they'd like to see more in-depth teaching from leaders. They aren't bothered by too many messages about giving. They don't think social issues and politics play an outsized role in the teaching. That's according to a new survey of evangelical churchgoers in the US, the Congregational Scorecard conducted by Grey Matter Research and Consulting and Infinity Concepts.

Pastors: Lead Not Your Church into Fear of AI
As a pastor, most of my emails deal with the usual ministry matters: schedules for Bible study, comments about worship services, or misplaced Tupperware at a recent potluck. But lately, I've had several church leaders asking me questions about artificial intelligence (AI). Some have requested resources on how to leverage its capabilities and avoid its dangers. Others have asked me for advice on how they can help their congregations avoid AI scams, like automated voice clones of their pastors calling to solicit money.

Houston's Cambodian Baptists Lose Founding Fathers to COVID-19
Houston's Cambodian Baptist community, a tight-knit group of faithful refugees, is mourning the loss of two of its founding fathers to COVID-19. Their churches now face the compounding challenges of recovering from pandemic disruptions and transitioning leadership from Khmer-speaking elders to younger generations without the wisdom of the influential pastors who dedicated their lives to their community. Pastor Ty Bo of Metrey Pheap Baptist Church and pastor The Mey of Rosharon Bible Baptist Church fled the Khmer Rouge regime, founded two of the city's four Cambodian Baptist congregations, pastored for decades, and supported ministries back in their home country.

The Prolific Deceivers at the Heart of ‘Roe v. Wade'
The life of 'Jane Roe' of Roe v. Wade was not what it seemed. When Norma McCorvey, using the alias 'Jane Roe,' sued Dallas district attorney Henry Wade for the right to an abortion that Texas law prohibited, she won plaudits from pro-choice feminists throughout the nation. Years later, in the late 1980s, McCorvey abandoned the anonymity of her alias and became a public advocate of abortion rights and a sought-out speaker on the pro-choice lecture circuit. But in 1995, McCorvey took an action that made her a hero to a very different group of people: pro-life Christians.

Trucker Ministry Continues Amid Holiday Hustle and Bustle
With reports of a supply chain crisis causing delivery delays this holiday season, many Americans were praying for truck drivers to get their Christmas goods delivered on time. Meanwhile, a fleet of ministers stationed at truck stops across the country were praying for the drivers themselves. Despite the headlines, news of a trucker shortage this year has largely been misconstrued and overblown, experts say. Local drivers are actually in a surplus, according to labor statistics, and long-haul trucking has been a grueling job with lots of turnover for decades.

How Should We Then Live Among Muslims? Four Arab Christian Views
Two Middle East nations share a city named Tripoli. They share little else, apart from a Phoenician heritage and mutually near-unintelligible dialects of Arabic. One of their starkest contrasts concerns freedom of religion. Libya sentenced six Christians to death earlier this month for converting from Islam. Lebanon, despite its sectarianism enshrined in politics, allows free movement between religions. Libya's Tripoli was commemorated in the official hymn of the US Marines in homage to American intervention on the shores of North Africa.

There Is an ‘I' in ‘Testify'
I miss the word I . Some have sworn off saying 'I' because we've abused it. Instead of listening, we've spoken for others as if our personal experience is universal. The word I can be shamed and scrutinized: Who are you to center yourself? and What makes your personal anecdotes relevant or reliable? In other circles, Christians overreacted to the extreme of a hyper-individualistic faith by leaning toward a hyper-collectivized vision of religious belief. Yet the reality is that healthy faith communities are made up of a diverse array of individuals who each have unique, distinct, and personal experiences of God.

Christ Came to Disarm Rebellious Sinners, But Not to Disempower Them
In any polarized situation, the overriding human tendency is to draw a line with oneself and one's allies on the good side and the opposing party on the wicked side, with very little attempt made by either side to understand the other. As these positions harden, it becomes almost impossible to achieve the insight necessary for a breakthrough. For some years now I have kept a file that I call 'The Line Runs Through.' This title is from Václav Havel, former president of the Czech Republic and one of those who resisted the Communists and was put in prison for his activities.

Religious Conversion Is Incredibly Personal. But It Also Invites Public Scrutiny.
When I was a child, our church had a children's choir for a special event one year. I don't like being up front and having everyone look at me, so I got permission to sit it out, even though all my siblings were participating. When the special day came, every child in the church got up and went to the stage. They all turned around. And looked straight at me. I was the only one not in the choir, and I might as well have had a spotlight on my face. I kept thinking about that memory as I read Rebecca L.

Native American Pastor Leads Southern Baptists to Decry Forced Conversions
Southern Baptists took a historic stand last month to acknowledge the trauma suffered by Native Americans and to officially offer their support and prayers. 'When you look at the long history of Southern Baptists, there was not a resolution in our history that ever took a stand with Native American people,' said Mike Keahbone. A Native American who leads a church located near the headquarters for the Comanche Nation in southwest Oklahoma, Keahbone knows firsthand the need for gospel witness and for healing among native peoples.
