After a highly successful local art competition, several finalists from the Lithgow LGA were among the top prize winners in the 2023 Waste 2 Art regional competition opening ceremony at the Platform Arts Hub in Blayney. The regional exhibition opened on Saturday 22 July with a special awards ceremony at the unique Platform Arts Hub on Blayney Railway Station. 4 awards and $1,500 in prize money were presented to Lithgow artists by the Mayor of Blayney, Scott Ferguson. Kathy Avgoulas from Hermitage Flat won first prize and $500 in the Creative Repair, Restore and Refurbish category for her beautiful textile entry titled 'Grandmas legacy of doilies'.
