American Academy of Family Physicians Researchers performed a retrospective analysis of EHR data from 24 Federally Qualified Health Centers that assessed effectiveness and accuracy of the PHQ-2 (depression screening) and GAD-2 (anxiety screening) tools from 2019 to 2021. In this high-risk population, only 9% of PHQ-2 and GAD-2 screening tests were positive for depression or anxiety. This was a significantly lower rate of depression and anxiety than what was expected given the published literature on screening outcomes.
