The mele (song) 'Holo Mai Pele Mai Kahikina' (describing the journey of Pele from Kahiki) reverberated throughout the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus during a free workshop held on April 2. Kumu Taupōuri Tangarō from Hawaiʻi Community College taught students, faculty, staff and community members the hula kiʻi and oli (chant) 'Holo Mai Pele,' strengthening the connection between the community and Hawaiian culture. The workshop was offered as a part of Hawaiʻi Papa O Ke Ao's He Ukana Aloha Kā Kīlauea series, launched during the 2021–2022 school year as an online webinar.
