Overall, 58.7 million tons of crude oil were shipped from CPC in 2022 Since the marine terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) commissioning, the total volume of crude oil delivered to the facility exceeded 823 million tons by the beginning of 2023. In 2022, CPC shipped 58.7 million tons of export crude oil from the sea terminal. This data was provided by CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban at the meeting of the Board of Directors of Caspian Pipeline Consortium-R JSC and of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of Caspian Pipeline Consortium-K JSC, which were held February 28-March 1, 2023 in Astana (Kazakhstan).

Belships has entered into agreements for the acquisition of three new 64 000 Ultramax bulk carriers which are being constructed at Japanese shipyards. Delivery of each vessel is expected in Q4 2024,  Q4 2025 and Q1 2026. The vessels are fully financed through time charter lease agreements, each for a period of 7 up to 10 years, with purchase options at current market levels during the charter. Commodities pricing agency S&P Global Platts will be excluding Russian-origin material from its assessments of fuel oil cargoes and bunker fuel in Asia and the Middle East from March 1, the company said in a note to subscribers on Wednesday, Reuters reports, according to Ship & Bunker. The decision follows an earlier consultation by Platts to review the merchantability of Russian material in Asian high-sulphur and low-sulphur fuel oil and bunker markets. Platts said that "the majority of feedback that Platts received suggested that Russian-origin material was no longer merchantable in the open-origin Asian fuel oil and bunker markets and supported its exclusion from the relevant Platts assessments", according to the report.

Marine fuel supplier Belgian Trading & Bunkering has won ISCC certification for the supply of biofuel bunker blends, according to Ship & Bunker. The firm has received the ISCC EU certification, it said in a Linkedin post last week. The ISCC backing is a mark of approval for the environmental credentials of the biofuels sold by the firm. Authorities including Singapore's MPA have recommended that biofuel bunker buyers only take on products with this certification.  "The ISCC EU certification provides proof of compliance with sustainability criteria required by the EU's Renewable Energy Directive for the production of biofuels from biomass," the company said in the post.

On 1 August 2023, the icebreaker moored at the outfitting embankment of USC's Baltiysky Zavod shipyard. It will take  several weeks to prepare the icebreaker for further towing of the ship to the water area of Kronshtadt shipyard, according to the Telegram of Baltiysky Zavod. The Ural is the third ship of Project 22220 built by Baltiysky Zavod shipyard.

Port leaders extend Climate Action Program for greener shipping
The World Port Climate Action Program (WPCAP) will be extended with a new focus on shore power, new fuels and green shipping corridors. This was agreed by the CEOs and leaders of 12 leading ports at a meeting in Rotterdam on the occasion of the first five years of the program. WPCAP members praised the program for its important contribution to the adoption of sustainability standards in the shipping industry, Haropa Port said in a media release. Faster adoption of shore power In the past years, WPCAP has significantly contributed to the faster adoption of shore power at ports, helping to reduce emissions of CO2 and pollutants while ships are at berth.

On February 3rd, 'Manny', a 100,000-ton foreign trade grain ship successfully anchored at berth 2 of Maoming GZP Terminal (Guangzhou Port). This is the first time that a 100,000-ton bulk cargo ship anchored successfully since the port opened in March 2019. This ship is also the largest tonnage bulk cargo ship that has anchored in Maoming.It is reported that 'Manny' is 229.50 meters long, 36.92 meters wide, and 92500 tons deadweight, respectively rewriting the three records of the length, width, and the load of the anchored ship at Bohe New Port, Maoming Harbor.
