MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen people sustained minor injuries after a collision between two vessels in Mandaue, Cebu, the Philippine Coast Guard said on Monday. PCG said MV St. Jhudiel and LCT (landing craft tank) Poseidon 23 clashed in the waters off Barangay Looc on Sunday. MV St. Jhudiel, which had 197 passengers, had 'steering casualty and engine failure, causing it to collide with LCT Poseidon 23,' according to authorities. 'As per MV St. Jhudiel's master, 13 passengers suffered minor injuries,' PCG further said.

One reason for this lack of success is that the T cells target only one antigen (a target protein found on the tumors); if some of the tumor cells don't express that antigen, they can escape the T cell attack. MIT researchers have now found a way to overcome that obstacle, using a vaccine that boosts the response of engineered T cells, known as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells, and also helps the immune system generate new T cells that target other tumor antigens.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has today launched a new study to determine whether mpox (monkeypox) can be transmitted asymptomatically, by people without any obvious symptoms. The £1 million PResymptomatIc MonkEypox (PRIME) study, funded by the Medical Research Council, is asking anyone in England aged 18 years or over who knows they have been in close sexual contact with an mpox case to come forward to participate. Participants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire about previous exposures to people with mpox, their vaccination status and will be asked to do a self-collection blood test to check whether they have developed antibodies to mpox.

Grand Rapids, Mich. – New Michigan State University and Corewell Health research shows that in-home, enhanced prenatal services provided by community health workers, nurses and social workers can dramatically reduce the risk of premature births, the main cause of infant deaths among Black and Hispanic populations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2020 ranked Michigan seventh highest in the U.S. for infant mortality. The results, published in JAMA Pediatrics , found that pregnant individuals receiving in-home support in Kent County's Strong Beginnings program, in partnership with Corewell Health and the state's Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP), saw a 57% reduced risk of having their babies prior to 32 weeks compared to individuals who received standard prenatal care without enhanced prenatal services.
