Last week, I cited Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data showing how we've trailed our Asean-6 neighbors on foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, which further dropped by a fifth this year so far. I asked the artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT to list the top three deterrents to FDIs in the Philippines. If one can assume that AI captures the most commonly cited reasons found in the internet, we might surmise that the list it gave represents those most prominently mentioned, ranked in order of importance.
