The country's crime rate has decreased for the first nine months of the year, according to data released by the Philippine National Police. Citing its Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System, the PNP reported on Thursday that from Jan. 1 to Sept. 5, the index crime volume decreased by 8.7 percent to 26,168 cases, compared to the same period last year with 28,660. Except for homicide cases—which increased by 0.42 percent from 720 to 723 this year—all of the other index crimes decreased over the past nine months.
