MANILA, Philippines —The National Telecommunications Channel (NTC) directed telecommunications companies Friday to prepare for the impact of Super Typhoon Mawar and establish free charging and calling stations in areas that may be affected by the storm. The NTC also ordered the companies to ensure adequate technical and support personnel, along with standby generators and extra fuel, are available for areas in Mawar's path. 'You are also directed to deploy Libreng Tawag (free call) and Libreng Charing (free charging) stations in strategic areas that will be affected by the typhoon,' NTC Commissioner Ella Lopez said in a memorandum.
