MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation and various groups from the transport sector should hold consultations to come up with a 'truly humane' public utility vehicle modernization program. This was according to Senator Grace Poe, chairperson of the Senate committee on public services, as she welcomed on Wednesday the dialogue between Malacañang officials and transport leaders that resulted in the lifting of the transport strike. 'Some requirements of the modernization program have been like the sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of our drivers and operators for years,' Poe said in a statement.
