Chinese new-energy vehicle startup Aiways Automobiles Co. Ltd. has failed to pay employees since March, underscoring its deepening liquidity crunch amid heated competition and slowing sales in the world's largest auto market. Aiways workers said they didn't receive April salaries following a delayed March payment. The company told staffers to make social insurance payments themselves in May. Aiways has around 1,500 employees, according to a company source. The company has since February suspended vehicle production in its plant in Shangrao, Jiangxi province, Caixin learned.
