LUCENA CITY — A 68-year-old cyclist died in a road accident Wednesday along the Maharlika Highway in Sto. Tomas City in Batangas province. Batangas police said in a report on Thursday, June 15 that bicycle rider Ernesto Abansado was crossing a pedestrian lane on board his bicycle at 5:35 p.m. in Barangay San Miguel when he was bumped by a truck being driven by Olly Umbao. Upon impact, the victim fell out of his bicycle, landed on the pavement and was consequently run over by the left front wheel of the truck.
