LUCENA CITY—The mandatory two-day liquor ban began on Friday in Carmona town, Cavite province, in time for a plebiscite for its cityhood bid on Saturday. Under Resolution No. 10913 of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), selling, buying or taking any intoxicating liquor is banned anywhere in Carmona from Friday to Saturday. Anyone found violating any of the provisions may face the penalty of imprisonment for not less than one year but not more than six years without probation. The Philippine National Police has also been implementing a gun ban since June 8.
