> Life The land border separating Malaysia and Singapore closed on March 20, 2020 during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the majority of the last two years, the Causeway has been relatively lifeless due to the lack of movement coming from either side of the border. While Malaysians and Singaporeans eventually managed to travel via the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme via air and land, the movement was extremely controlled. At the stroke of midnight on April 1, 2022 – more than two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began – the Causeway was brought back to life, and the photos prove it.
