Don Everly, the rock ‘n' roll pioneer who recorded harmonizing hits with his younger brother, Phil, as part of the Everly Brothers, died Saturday at his Nashville home at age 84. A spokesperson for the family confirmed his death to the Los Angeles Times. 'Don lived by what he felt in his heart. Don expressed his appreciation for the ability to live his dreams … with his soulmate and wife, Adela, and sharing the music that made him an Everly Brother,' the family said in a statement. Starting tonight Conan O'Brien will be winding his TBS late night talk show, ‘Conan,' down with two weeks of shows featuring his first live studio audience since the pandemic began. So it's fitting that before the return of real people, he paid tribute to the cardboard cutouts that have served as his audience since last year. Before the pandemic, Conan filmed his talk show at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank. Former Recording Academy president Deborah Dugan has agreed to settle with the organization in the dispute over her firing in 2020. The settlement was reached after a process of arbitration. The terms of the settlement are not known. 'The Recording Academy and Deborah Dugan have agreed to resolve their differences and to keep the terms of their agreement private,' Dugan and the Academy said in a joint statement issued Thursday night. Dugan was put on administrative leave just days before the 2020 Grammy Awards in January following accusations of 'misconduct' made by a female employee.

All 13 of the West Coast locals in the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees on Thursday recommended that their members vote 'yes' on the recent three-year agreement reached with the studios. The memo sent to members on Thursday tells members to 'stay united' ahead of the vote to ratify the contract with the AMPTP, a deal that was reached Oct. 16 and averted what would have been the union's first strike in its 128-year history. A ratification vote will take place several weeks from now on the tentative Hollywood Basic Agreement.

On Friday's episode of 'Real Time,' top-of-the-show interview guest Bob Costas criticized the International Olympic Committee's ties to dictatorial governments and told Bill Maher he thinks the Tokyo Olympic games should be postponed again. The comments came during a lengthy, free ranging talk between Maher and Costas. Costas said the Tokyo games should be 'postponed, not canceled. If they postponed it until the summer of 2022, then as a one-off it would go back to the way it was prior to the '90s,' by which he meant holding the winter and summer games in the same calendar year.
