Nye County investigators believe a Las Vegas man was beaten, thrown off a cliff and shot because a woman believed that the man had hurt her child. Roy Jaggers, 27, of Las Vegas was found dead Sunday in Cathedral Canyon, near Pahrump, according to Nye County Sheriff's Office deputies. Investigators from the Metropolitan Police Department and the Sheriff's Office spoke to Jaggers' mother who said the last person he was in contact with was a neighbor named Heather Pate, 27, of Las Vegas. Deputies said that after detaining Pate and her boyfriend, Kevin Dent, 36, of Las Vegas they discovered evidence that Pate and Dent lured Jaggers to Pate's home, believing he had hurt Pate's child.

Tayler Nicholson first called the Metropolitan Police Department at 7:01 a.m. on May 5 to report that someone had apparently taken her son from the Emerald Suites apartment that she shared with her boyfriend, 27-year-old Terrell Rhodes, located at 3684 Paradise Road. She was calling from Colorado, where she told police she had recently traveled to care for her mother, who had been attacked by a dog.

MountainView Hospital has launched Nevada's only blood and marrow transplant program, hospital representatives said Wednesday. MountainView and Sarah Cannon, the cancer institute of HCA HealthCare, are offering the treatment to patients with blood cancers and blood disorders who previously have had to leave the state for a transplant, the hospital said. 'One of the most important things in transplant is having access to physicians that can see the patients on a regular basis,' said Dr. Shahram Mori, one of the program's medical directors.

Oakland Athletics officials will visit Southern Nevada next week to explore the possibility of Las Vegas becoming a relocation home for the major league baseball club. Multiple sources confirmed that a group headed by A's president and co-owner Dave Kaval would meet with area government officials during several days. The A's also are said to be lining up a prominent government relations firm to assist in the fact-finding mission. Dolby Live is in, Park Theater is out as the name of the venue at Park MGM. Dolby sounds good to MGM Resorts International. The audio-entertainment company and owner of Park Theater have announced that venue has been renamed Dolby Live at Park MGM. The renaming is in time for Lady Gaga's return of her 'Jazz + Piano' residence production at the theater beginning Thursday night. Plans for the new name were first evident in July, when the letters were being removed from the Park Theater signs, and reports surfaced that a new sound system was being loaded in.

The man whose company controlled Stardust, Hacienda, Fremont and Marina hotel-casinos at the height of the mob era in Vegas has died. Allen R. Glick, owner and founder of Argent Corporation, passed away Monday at his home in La Jolla, Calif., following a lengthy battle with cancer. Glick bought the Hacienda in 1974, and followed with the purchase of Recrion Corporation, which owned Stardust and Fremont. Glick's purchase was financed by a $63 million loan from the Teamsters Pension Fund. The Argent (named such for Glick's ARG initials) thus became one of the largest casino operators in the state.

Austin Ekeler proved in 2019 to be one of the best pass-catching running backs in the NFL. Turns out he's quite the runner, too.
