The Women of the Wall group said that security guards had searched their bags and confiscated a Torah scroll on Friday morning, adding that this violated a recent ruling by the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court. The National Unity party led by Defense Minister Benny Gantz will not limit itself to a minimum number of seats in the upcoming election in order to demand that Gantz receive the mandate to form a government, the party's number two, Justice Minister Gideon Saar, said on Saturday. A maritime gas deal between Israel and Lebanon is still on the table and could be concluded "within days," but just in case the deal falls through the IDF remains braced for violence on its northern border, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said over the weekend as he warned Hezbollah not to attack Israel. 'Negotiations are continuing,' Gantz said in interviews he gave on Friday to Israeli news stations Channels 11 and 12, as he spoke about a US-brokered deal that would set a maritime border in such a way as to allow for Israel to extract natural gas from the Karish rig and for Lebanon to operate in the neighboring Kana one.

Seven months after Heshy Tischler was charged with inciting a riot in Brooklyn's Borough Park, the Orthodox activist and provocateur has been sentenced to 10 days of community service.Tischler, a radio host who is now running for City Council, was arrested in October on charges of unlawful imprisonment of a journalist and member of the Hasidic community. He pled guilty to inciting a riot, one of four charges that he drew during a week of turbulent protests in Borough Park last fall when the heavily Orthodox Brooklyn neighborhood was placed under tighter restrictions due to rising COVID-19 cases there.

Jewish settler violence is to blame for increased terror activities and rising tensions across Jerusalem and the West Bank, Meretz chairwoman Zehava Galon claimed in a Shabbatarbut event in Petach Tikva. Galon added that the IDF is "securing convoys of settlers who come [to the West Bank] to provoke Palestinians...they beat them, the settlers are extremely violent toward Palestinians." Israel's security establishment must act in a stronger manner against the settlers, she lamented. The deadly incident is just the latest in a series of high-profile setbacks for Moscow's forces since the Februar 24 invasion.
