The situation has made it difficult for most of the farmers to achieve expected harvests.    The rainy season/planting in Kano usually starts in June and ends in October, but the 2021 season came as a shock to the farmers, when rain seized in September, perhaps due to devastating effects of climate change following global warming. An investigation by The Guardian revealed that Kano had not experienced such a disruption in the last 20 years, and this compelled some northern emirs to direct residents to offer special prayers against drought.

No fewer than four persons were abducted along Ayetoro Ekiti-Otun Ekiti Road in Ekiti in Ido Osi local government area of the State, as gunmen waylaid some travelers and held them hostage. The victims, according to sources from the area, are yet to be identified persons who were said to have been ferried into the bush by the gun-wielding kidnappers. It was gathered the incident occurred when two buses conveying passengers from the Otun Ekiti axis. The assailants ambushed them and succeeded in holding four persons while others escaped by whiskers.

Barcelona on Thursday approved a budget of 765 million euros ($899 million) for the 2021-2022 season, the club said. 'An operating budget of 765 million euros for the 2021/22 season has been approved,' Barca said in a statement after a board meeting. Barcelona had intially forecast revenues of 791 million euros ($932 million) for the 2020/2021 fiscal year. However, this had been based on the assumption that fans would return to stadiums last December post-pandemic, which ultimately did not happen.
