United Arab Emirates agrees to supply Germany with gas, diesel
ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates agreed Sunday an "energy security" deal with Germany to supply liquefied natural gas and diesel as Berlin searches for new power sources to replace Russian supplies. Emirati industry minister Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber called it a "landmark new agreement" that "reinforces the rapidly growing energy partnership between the UAE and Germany", at a signing attended by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the UAE's state news agency WAM reported. Scholz was on a visit to the UAE as part of a Gulf tour that also includes stops in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

German football sinks deep in crisis after another shock World Cup exit
Soccer Football – FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 – Group E – Costa Rica v Germany – Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, Qatar – December 1, 2022 Germany's Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala REUTERS/Thaier Al-Sudani TPX IMAGES OF THE DAY AL KHOR, Qatar — German football plummeted deeper into crisis on Thursday after the national team tumbled out of the World Cup in Qatar despite a 4-2 victory over Costa Rica in their final Group E match. The 1-1 draw with Spain following its shock 2-1 opening defeat to Japan had given Hansi Flick's men some hope of advancing but even victory against Costa Rica was not enough to prevent yet another tournament debacle, with the Germans condemned to their second straight World Cup first round exit.

How Qatar secured the 2022 Fifa World Cup
Sportswashing works on the principle that the grander the illusion, the more immune it is to criticism.By turning the summer World Cup into a winter World Cup, Fifa have done the unthinkable heretofore, all to appease the House of Thani, Qatar's ruling family that rose to power as Ottoman and then British influence waned in the Middle East. The emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, holds executive power. Commander-in-chief of the army, he appoints the judges and the prime minister. Sheikh Tamim also pays Lionel Messi's €41 million salary at Paris Saint Germain.

Kylian Mbappe goals see PSG all but secure Ligue 1 title
Paris Saint-Germain all but secured the Ligue 1 title on Sunday as a Kylian Mbappe brace gave them a 2-1 win away to Auxerre that left the Qatar-owned club six points clear at the top of the table with two games remaining. PSG had hoped to officially confirm a second straight championship triumph, and a ninth in the last 11 seasons, but they needed closest rivals Lens to slip up earlier in the day. Lens won 3-1 at Lorient, and so PSG still require one point from their final two matches to secure a French record 11th title overall.

Football: Japan rise from dead again to beat Spain and reach last 16
Japan pulled their Qatar World Cup campaign out of the fire with another come-from-behind win over a soccer superpower, beating Spain 2-1 on Thursday to earn a place in the round of 16. After another first half in which his team were completely outplayed, Hajime Moriyasu called on super sub Ritsu Doan to again save the day at the Khalifa International Stadium. Doan did his part, echoing his role in Japan's 2-1 comeback win over Germany to open their tournament. The Freiburg attacker more than answered Alvaro Morata's early first-half goal, netting a stunning equalizer and following with a cross that led to Ao Tanaka scoring the Samurai Blue's second.

High drama in World Cup as Japan qualify, Germany and Belgium go out
AFP Japan supporters celebrate after their team won the Qatar 2022 World Cup Group E football match between Japan and Spain at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on December 1, 2022.
