Call for cautious use of rejuvenated flood plains
Farming and Environment Although floods have rejuvenated Darling River floodplains, land above the plains, such as at this property near Brewarrina, is drying out for lack of rain. Picture: Angus Whyte GRAZIERS on the lower Darling and the great Anabranch have been urged to be cautious and conservative in making use of floodplains after the current flood recedes. Angus Whyte, the owner of Wyndham station on the northern Anabranch, has just returned from a Rangelands Living Skin meeting in the upper Darling town of Brewarrina, where fellow farmers are already enjoying the benefits of well-soaked soils and prodigious grass growth.
