Household loan rates at commercial banks in Korea reached 5.34% in October, up 0.19%p from the previous month and highest in more than 10 years up extending gains for the 17th straight month, according to Bank of Korea Tuesday. Interest rates on credit loans added 0.6%p to 7.22%, the highest since 7.89% in June 2012, mortgage-based loan rates up 0.03%p to 4.82%, the highest since May 2012. The rates on corporate loans also hit 5.27% in October, up 0.61%p from the previous month, and the first time to hit above 5% in nearly 10 years.
